What happens if the pupil has not made the expected progress?
If the child has not made the progress expected, then various options will be discussed eg. seeking further advice (with parental permission) and/or changing an intervention or its delivery. The school can access additional support services through the Local Authority. These include:
Specialists may be involved at any point to provide advice on the early identification of SEND, effective support and/or interventions. On completion of any necessary forms, the Specialist Professional may hold a consultation with the SENCo, Class Teacher, Parents/Carers and/or pupils. An observation and/or assessment may take place and recommendations that are put in place will be reviewed. The involvement of specialists and the discussions or agreed outcomes will be recorded and shared with the parents and the teaching staff supporting the child.
